Family Update and The Potty Training Fiasco

Gosh y'all!  It's been too long.  I clearly haven't been the best of keeping up with my blog lately.  It has honestly been a rough past couple of months, so the blog got put on the back burner.  After the boys each got sick, I was sick for about a month.  Let me tell you being sick while pregnant is for the birds!  Terrible!  It took me awhile to shake my horrible cold.  Plus we've been dealing with potty training issues with the boys.

*Disclaimer:  If you're not a mom and poop grosses you out (it does me and I'm living this), skip this section!

I may have mentioned that the boys started taking their poopy diapers off at naptime and/or bedtime and playing with it and spreading it everywhere!  What a complete nightmare!  So we have been trying everything to keep them from taking them off...duct taping their clothes and diapers (didn't work), putting on footless zip-up jammies backwards (didn't work), putting footless jammies on backwards and duct taping them (didn't work), and finally we found a solution (until they figure out how to maneuver out of these).  My mom found a company that makes "inescapable" zippered back sleepers that are supposed to be impossible to take off.  Now whenever the boys go down for naps or bed we put them in these jammies and use a diaper pin over the snaps at the top.

All of this sound crazy?!  Yes it is!  I would have never in my wildest dreams imagined any child would ever or could ever do anything like this.  Let me tell you, the first time you have to clean up poop off the wall, ceiling, bed linens, floors, toys, etc and find it all over your children, you will wish someone would just kill you (or them) right then and there.  Talk about disgusting!!!

I realize this is a clear indication the boys are ready for potty training.  We have been trying but they absolutely do not want to go poop in the potty.  They like to stand in a corner in their diapers as much as I plead with them to go poop in the potty, they do not want to sit on the potty to poop.  Now don't get me wrong. They love to go sit on the potty and play around and make a mess, ha.  They will even go pee pee every now and then, but I really don't think they are totally ready to take the plunge.  We have tried putting them in big boy pants around the house to get a feel for it and they just pee all over the place and laugh.  (They think spreading poop everywhere is hilarious too.)  Needless to say we are having a time and are so ready for them to be fully potty trained!  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!  Please!  Please comment below!

Side note:  Y'all never in my wildest dreams would I imagine that I would be doing a blog post on poop and pee and the wonderful trials and tribulations that apparently go along with potty training twin boys.  It's so crazy the things you go through as a parent.  If you would have told me this a few years ago, I would have said you're insane!  That would never happen!

Now on to more pleasant things...

The boys took their first field trip to a farm that had a pumpkin patch, corn maze and lots of fun things to do.  They had a blast!

Halloween week was a good week for the boys.  They had not one but TWO Halloween parties at school.  Talk about sugar overload!

Of course the boys were super excited to go trick or treating.  They thought they were going to sit down and eat the whole bucket of candy that night.  We had to hide their buckets so total meltdowns didn't ensue the next morning.

Enough picture taking Mom, let us go already!

A long day of sugar and partying ended with what?  More sugar and Monsters, Inc.  How appropriate!

In other news...

We finally got the boys transitioned into their big beds last weekend.  We decided we really didn't want to buy a third crib, so it was time to put the boys in "big beds".  So far so good.  They seem to love them but they still wreck havoc in their room.  I guess it's going to happen regardless of what bed they're in.

And yes they still use paci's.  They will be 3 in a month so it is way past time to send them away.  You have to pick your battles.  This is one I have been scared to fight until now.

The beds aren't totally put together in this pic.  So no, we aren't making Eli sleep on just a mattress.  Although after the poop fiasco's I'm tempted to take everything away and make them sleep on the hard floor with nothing! ; )

Last week Grandma came for a visit.  We love it when Grandma comes!  We got to go down to the playground a couple of times since the weather has been so nice.

The past month has been pretty busy.  I can't believe I am 2 months away from adding another little guy to our craziness.  Even through all the sickness I am truly blessed with such a wonderful little (big) family.

Fall Break

The boys were on Fall Break last week so we tried to take advantage of no school on Thursday and Friday.  I am slowing down a little so I was happy I had the energy to get out and do a few fun things with the boys.
Friday we ended up going to the zoo.  The boys loved all the Halloween decorations.  We haven't been since Spring and I think they enjoyed it a lot more this time.

Killing time standing in line...

Brotherly love

Eli wanted to stand out front.

Saturday after the gym and a quick lunch at Five Guys (Momma needs her weekly hamburger fix), we headed out to the BMW Euro Auto Festival which featured Porsche this year (Adam's most favorite car).  Of course we had to take the boys.  They both love cars but Eli is obsessed!  He is just like his Daddy when it comes to cars.

I think the boys had a nice Fall Break.  Their teacher told me when asked what they did on Fall Break they said they went to Target.  I'm like, "Really?!  That was the highlight of their long weekend?!"
Go figure, ha ha!

Update

Last week started out good.  We had a nice lazy Monday morning.

Van was productive and "vacuumed" the living room. ;)

Tuesday I got to run for the first time in months.
I made it 3 miles and it felt great!

Then I ended up getting the worst cold of my life that turned into a sinus infection!  Ick!  I don't know if it was intensified because I am pregnant or my immune system just isn't what it used to be.  I am not one to get really sick normally so this rocked my world.  I  hate being down and out and not being able to get to the gym kills me.  I listened to my body though and took it easy for several days.

I did manage to take the boys to the park one day since the weather has been absolutely gorgeous.
They love the "choo-choo".

25 weeks and growing...
I actually got myself dressed on Friday thinking I was feeling better.

I even treated myself to a PSL.

Go Vols!  Lil B and I supporting the Vols even though they lost to FL...again...ugh!!

We participated in our neighborhood yard sale Saturday morning.  We are trying to make room for the 3rd little guy...it was a bust!

Working hard...

Taking a snack break...

We let the boys skip out on nap time Saturday and watch some TN football.  They were super excited about the game.

Sunday we headed up to the mountains to find a doable hike for the boys.

We started out at Caesar's Head.
What a view!

We took a picnic lunch of Bojangles.  I caught everyone chowing down. ;)

We ended up on the Blue Ridge Parkway around Black Balsam and walked a little bit on a couple of trails but we really didn't know exactly where to go.  Next time we're going to head to Graveyard Fields.  Even though we didn't get much hiking in, the drive was beautiful!  It was nice to get out of the house.

I must have done too much this weekend because by Monday morning I was in bad shape again.  I finally broke down and went to the doc to get some meds.  For those of you who know me, I HATE going to the dr and am against taking antibiotics if you can help it but I needed some relief quickly.  I just pray this helps and I will be on the mend.

Blondie Thoughts: My Makeup Routine or Lack Thereof

It is rare that I put on a full face of makeup, but I do rely on a few essentials daily.  It really depends on what's going on for the day as to how much makeup I put on.
If I'm going to the gym in the morning and am home for the rest of the day, I'm pretty low maintenance.

For those days I use...

 photo makeuproutinegym_zps3ca18dcd.jpg

1) A BB cream.  I am loving Garnier B.B. Cream  right now.

2) Under eye concealer.  Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer
(Unfortunately they discontinued this, so I'm in the market for a new one.)

3) I may or may not put on a little waterproof mascara Maybelline Falsies Waterproof Mascara

 4) I ALWAYS use Lancome Cils Booster XL under my mascara.  I discovered this a year or so ago and coming from someone with short, stubby lashes, it makes a HUGE difference!

If I am going to be out running errands or lunching:

1) I add a little Clinique Pressed Powder Bronzer on top of the BB cream.

2) Dust a little Coty Loose Powder on my face.

3) Maybe add a touch of Clinique Blush

4) I line my eyes with Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Slate or Chocolate.  I've been wearing this for years.  Hands down best eyeliner ever!

5) Of course I put on my my Lancome Cils Booster XL before I add mascara.

6) 2 coats of Clinique Mascara or whatever mascara I'm currently trying.  I try a lot of different ones but I really like this one...mainly because I got it in a gift for free.  I also like Maybelline mascaras.

7) I sweep a neutral eye shadow over my lids.  I normally use Clinique because I use the samples you get in their free gifts.  I am not an eye shadow person, so I don't get too crazy with eye shadow.  I have never known how to apply it.

8) For lips I apply Clinique lipstick in Pink Beach (for a neutral) or Raspberry Glace (for a darker lip) and top it off with lip gloss.  I currently use Clinique lip gloss samples from their gifts or Lancome Juicy Tubes.  I am continually on the search for the best lip gloss so if y'all know of one, let me know!

There you have it!
This is pretty much my everyday (or every few days in my case) makeup routine but if I'm heading out for a night on the town I amp it up a little bit.  :)

Wow!  I just realized I'm kind of partial to Clinique.   I've used Clinique since I was in high school when I started wearing makeup.  I always wait to buy until they run a Bonus gift so I get a bunch of freebies.
